Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Mudbugs fought hard for over 85 minutes of hockey to beat Wichita 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday night.
The Mudbugs looked eerily flat in the early going of the first period but adjusted at the right time half way through the period. Darren McMillian scored first for Wichita as a rebound bounced right to his stick for the first goal of the game. The Mudbugs evened the game when Karlis Zirnis fed a pass from the corner to a wide open Joe Ori who fired it in to the net.
Neither team could score in the second period as Bossier-Shreveport had three full power play opportunities.
John DeCaro and Jon Horrell traded great save after save to send the it to overtime.
Jason Williamson ended the game at 5:42 in the second overtime on a rebound. John DeCaro stopped 37 of 38 shots in picking up his first Mudbugs playoff win.
