Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (14-11-5) scored a late 3rd period goal and added an empty-netter to battled past the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-1 Sunday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas traded two powerplay opportunities, but both came up empty as we had a scoreless opening period. Lone Star out-shot Shreveport, 11-9 after one frame.
The Mudbugs broke a scoreless tie at 11:48 when Mark Capkovic flipped it through the slot and Jacob Skolnik ripped one in top shelf for his first goal of the season. The Bugs led 1-0 and took that lead into the 2nd INT. locker room despite the Brahmas leading in SOG, 23-16.
The Brahmas came right back at 13:07 of the 3rd period and tied the game up at 1 when former Bug Thomas Daskas was able to jam in the goal. Shreveport then would break a 1-1 tie when Tim Khokhlachev would slip one in for his fourth goal of the year giving the Mudbugs the lead back at 2-1 with 1:15 left in the game. Ethan Harrison and Gueorgui Feduolov earned the assists. The Bugs would then slap the icing on the cake when Feduolov to wrist one off the post and in for an EN goal and his fourth of this weekend. Jay Feiwell and Capkovic grabbed the helpers putting the game away at 19:34.
Maiszon Balboa grabbed the win in net making 27 saves on the night.
The Mudbugs will hit the road to take on the Odessa Jackalopes for a two-game set starting next Friday night at the Ector County Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ?
