
Bugs Drop Their 3rd Straight vs Ice Wolves

The Shreveport Mudbugs (31-9-6) gave up four unanswered goals to the New Mexico Ice Wolves losing 4-1 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Outpost Ice Arenas.
The Bugs scored the game's first goal for the third straight time in this series as Gio Procopio threaded a perfect pass from the far corner to the near corner which was then fired home from Braiden Dorfman to make it a 1-0 Shreveport lead at 17:23 of the 1st period. Procopio earned the only assist on Dorfman's team-leading 18th tally of the season. The Bugs led in SOG, 15-6 after one.
The Ice Wolves responded in the 2nd when Alex Gomez stole a pass and scored on a breakaway shorthanded to even the score at 1 just 3:31 into the period. NM would later take the lead on the PP when Nikolai Dulak would roof in his 11th goal of the season in the slot to make it a 2-1 score in favor of the Wolves. Shreveport hit four posts in the first two periods combined and out-shot NM, 26-14 after two.
New Mexico would add onto their lead when Joey Larson fired in his 13th goal of the season from the LW circle to extend the Wolves' lead to 3-1 at 7:02 of the 3rd period. The Bugs just couldn't get much going as NM tipped home another tally late to make it a 4-1 contest at 15:06.
Shreveport drops its third straight which is their longest losing streak of the season.
The Bugs will return home for a two-game series against the Amarillo Bulls at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. It'll be a Military Appreciation/bloodline Themed weekend with Game one of the series next Friday night with puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
