Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (20-17-5) got a pair of goals from Lukas Sedlacek and superb goaltending to hold off the Wichita Falls Warriors, 3-2 at Kay Yeager Coliseum Sunday night.
The Bugs and Warriors both had grade A scoring chances, but neither could cash in for a scoreless opening period. Wichita Falls led in SOG, 12-9 after one.
The Bugs struck first blood at 7:02 of the 2nd period when Austin Brimmer threw a pass through the slot which was redirected home from Connor Gatto for his 11th tally of the season to make it a 1-0 lead for Shreveport. Brimmer and Carter Green earned the helpers on the game's first goal. The reigning champs then would deliver late with a shorthanded tally from Lukas Sedlacek who faked out the netminder on the backhand and fore-handed in his ninth goal of the season at 19:53 to push their lead to 2-0. The Bugs led in SOG, 22-20 after two.
The Bugs added to their lead at 5:55 of the 3rd period as Sedlacek got in front to poke home his second goal of the night to spread the lead to 3-0. The Warriors would then storm back with goals at 7:42 and 18:01 from Garrett Horsager and Hunter Jones respectively to make it a 3-2 contest. That would be the closest the Warriors would get as Shreveport snaps a three-game losing streak.
Simon Bucheler made 31 saves to earn his first win since Jan. 1st.
The Bugs will hit the road once again and take on the Corpus Christi IceRays for a two-game series beginning next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from the American Bank Center. ¬â¹
