(BUFFALO, NY) âWith training camp opening on Wednesday, the Buffalo Destroyers announced the signings of OL/DL Alex Houston, OL/DL Gonzalo Floyd, OL/DL Seneca Knight, and K Mike Moser. The Destroyers now have 37 players in training camp.
"I'm very excited to get this season started," said Destroyers head coach Ron Selesky. "Our staff did an outstanding job in the offseason getting some top notch talent here and I can't wait to see them out on the field.
Houston (6-3, 270, Colgate) played for Selesky with the af2's Albany Conquest last season. He was a first team All-af2 selection finishing second in the league with ten tackles for a loss and ranked third with four forced fumble. His 11.5 sacks also ranked eighth in the af2. Houston spent 2001 with the New Jersey Gladiators. Houston earned three varsity letters at Colgate. His 14 career sacks ranks sixth best at Colgate.
Floyd (6-3, 275, UTEP) played seven seasons for the CFL's Hamilton Tiger Cats (1996-2002) and is seventh all-time with 22 sacks. His 170 tackles places him 11th in Tiger Cats history. He began his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders (1995-96). Floyd was in training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 and on the practice squad of the Washington Redskins in 1994.
Moser (6-1, 215, Taylor) played the last two seasons with the af2 Louisville Fire. He was 69 for 81 on PAT's and hit seven field goals with the Fire. Moser played under Selesky in 2001 with the Fire.
Buffalo kicks off its fifth season in the Arena Football League Saturday, February 1, 2003 as the Destroyers host the Grand Rapids Rampage at the HSBC Arena. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now. Call 881-4444!
