Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

Buffalo, October 19--- The Buffalo Silverbacks are thrilled to announce fourteen feet of dominant force in the paint. The Silverbacks have signed 7'2" Rashid Byrd and re-signed 6'11" Johnny Tyson to conquer the paint for the ABA team this year.

The 7'2", 230 lb. Byrd was a regular with the open run players among the "And 1" tour seen on ESPN this past year. Rashid brings a celebrity feel to the team. In addition to his "And 1" success, he also starred in the well-known "Got Milk" commercials. The massive Byrd recently attended the L.A. Lakers veteran's camp. Rashid played summer basketball with the Seattle Supersonics and played with the 15-5 Seattle Mountaineers of the IBL, where he averaged 21.4 points per game and 10.1 rebounds a game.

Johnny "Spyderman" Tyson returns with his veteran grit. His 6'11" 235 lb. frame next to Byrd establishes a "Twin Tower" dominance of the down low play. Tyson enjoyed two years in the NBA at Orlando, playing with Shaquille O'Neal. Tyson was with the Buffalo franchise last year and made major contributions throughout the season. He was a proven leader and the Silverbacks are excited to have him back. His NBA talent is sure to influence the Silverbacks style of play.
