Buffalo Sabres Sign 2006 Draft Pick Alex Biega

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed defenseman Alex Biega to a two-year entry level contract. The Sabres selected Biega (bee-AY-gah) in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.

Biega (5'11", 195 lbs., shoots right, 4/4/1988) recently completed his senior season as team captain at Harvard, picking up 10 points (2+8) in 33 games for the Crimson. For his efforts he was named Team MVP for the second consecutive season. Biega did not miss a game during his four seasons on the team and skated on Harvard's top defensive pair throughout much of his career.

A native of Montreal, Que., Biega finished his college career with 70 points (15+55) in 131 games.
