
Senators Sign Goaltender Mike Brodeur To One-Year Contract

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 26, 2010) - The Ottawa Senators announced today they have re-signed goaltender Mike Brodeur to a one-year, two-way contract.
Brodeur, 27, spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with Ottawa's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. In 36 games with the B-Sens, Brodeur went 13-13-2 with a 3.06 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
Brodeur was recalled to Ottawa on two occasions, posting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage. Following his first recall on Nov. 24, Brodeur made his National Hockey League debut on Dec. 19, stopping 22 of 23 shots to earn his first career victory in Ottawa's 4-1 defeat of the Minnesota Wild. He returned to Ottawa's line-up on Jan. 14 to replace the injured Pascal Leclaire. He made 32 saves in the Senators' 2-0 victory over the Rangers in New York on Jan. 14 to start the club's 11-game winning streak. Brodeur then earned a 4-2 win over the Canadiens in Montreal on Jan. 16, making 30 saves.
Brodeur split the 2008-09 season between the AHL's Rochester Americans and East Coast Hockey League's Augusta Lynx. In 38 games with Rochester, Brodeur went 18-13-4 with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. In eight games with the Lynx, he went 2-4-1 with a 3.02 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
The 6-2, 186-pound Calgary native was selected to the Canadian all-star team for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, playing the first period of a 14-11 loss to PlanetUSA on Jan. 26, 2009.
Brodeur was the Chicago Blackhawks' seventh-round selection (211th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
