Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC defender Rachel Buehler and forward Alex Morgan were named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for an upcoming international friendly against Brazil, it was announced today.
The U.S. Women's National Team plays host to Brazil on Nov. 10 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The match will be broadcast on NBC at 12:30 p.m. (Pacific). Fans can also follow the action live online via ussoccer.com's MatchTracker.
The match marks the first time since 2008 that the U.S. Women's National Team faces Brazil on American soil. The match also will be the United States' first visit to Orlando and the Citrus Bowl since May 22, 1999, when the Americans also played Brazil. That 3-0 U.S. victory featured Mia Hamm scoring her 108th career goal to break what was at the time the international scoring record.
Both Buehler and Morgan recently featured for the U.S. Women's National Team during international friendlies against Australia and New Zealand during the month of October. Buehler appeared in all three games (1 start) for the United States as the national team conceded just two goals over the three-game span.
Morgan started and played 90 minutes on Oct. 20 in a 4-0 win against Australia, but missed the final two games due to an ankle injury sustained during training.
