
Bucks Win Home Opener

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, open up at home with a win beating the Rio Grande Killer Bees 4-3 on Friday night.
The Laredo Bucks and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees played a tight first period. Both teams spent most of the period transitioning up and down the ice. The Laredo Bucks had 12 shots during the period while the Bees had 7 shots on net.
The Laredo Bucks came out quickly in the second, scoring only 28 seconds into the period. Neil Trimm scored his first goal of the season, with help from Mark Nebus and Todd Griffith. Laredo Bucks penalty kill was hard at work at the 5:38 mark when Justin Styffe took the puck down the ice and was able to sneak one by the Killer Bees goalie to make it a 2-0 game. The Bees would get on the board when Jake Hauswirth scored at 11:18 in the period, narrowing the Bucks lead to 2-1. The Bucks offense notched up a powerplay goal at the 15:43 mark. The powerplay goal was scored by the captain, Adam Rivet. Mark Nebus and Neil Trimm had assists on the goal. Less than two minutes later, Neil Trimm would score his second goal of the evening, from Mark Nebus and John Kearns making it a 4-1 Bucks lead. With 50 seconds left in the second period, the Killer Bees would make the score 4-2 when Jake Hauswirth once again found the net- this time on a powerplay.
The Killer Bees would try to make a comeback in the third period. Aaron Lee scored a powerplay goal at the 11:57 mark making it a one goal game. But Torrie Jung and the Bucks held on to take the win 4-3.
