Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks won three games this past week to extend their lead in the Southeast as they beat each team in the division. Laredo beat Austin 5-3 on Friday at the LEC. The Bucks then traveled to Rio Grande Valley and defeated the Killer Bees 3-1 on Tuesday. Wednesday night Laredo returned home and knocked off Corpus Christi 4-2. Overall the Bucks are 18-8-3 with 39 points. The Bucks are home on Saturday night celebrating their 4th Annual New Years Eve Game presented by AT&T and Lack's Furniture. Face off against Austin set for 7:30 p.m. There will be fireworks and live music after the game. Fans can take advantage of four tickets for forty dollars. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
- Saturday the Bucks host their 4th Annual New Years Eve Game at the LEC against the Austin Ice Bats. There will be 5,000 New Years Eve noisemakers given out courtesy of AT&T. After the game there will be live music by the Jolly Ranchers plus a big fireworks spectacular.

2005-06: This is the fourth of eight meetings this year, four match ups will come at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 4-2 on 11/10 in Austin as forward James Hiebert had a goal and two assists. On 12/16 the Bucks beat Austin 5-2 powered by a pair of Chris Grenville goals. On 12/23 the Bucks scored a pair of third period goals and beat the Bats 5-3 at the LEC. Five different players scored for Laredo.
2004-05: Laredo was 7-4-0 against the Ice Bats. The Bucks were 2-3-0 at the Bat Cave.
All-time: Laredo is 21-12-1 against Austin. The Bucks are 14-4-1 at the LEC and 7-8-0 at the Bat Cave. The teams met in the 2003 Southern Conference Finals with Austin beating the Bucks 4-2.

- The Bucks have played 29 games so far, the most in the CHL.
BUCKS PENALTY SHOTS
- Bucks forward James Hiebert missed a penalty shot on Wednesday in the third period against Corpus Christi. It was the first time in franchise history the Bucks have failed to convert a penalty shot. Brent Cullaton connected on 12/06/03 against Colorado and Chris Grenville scored on 02/28/04 at Fort Worth.
SEASON LOW
- The Bucks were shorthanded just twice Tuesday night in a 3-1 win at Rio Grande Valley. The previous season low was four times on 12/09 in a 7-6 shootout loss in Lubbock and on 12/02 in a 4-2 loss at Odessa.
SEASON LOW PART TWO
- The Bucks set a season low for power play chances Tuesday night with just three opportunities in a 3-1 win at Rio Grande Valley. The previous was four chances on 12/23 against Austin, 11/15 at YNG, and also on 12/09 in Lubbock.
HEY NOW YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR
- Laredo Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski will be the head coach for the Southern Conference for the CHL All-Star Game at the Dodge Arena in Rio Grande Valley in mid January. CHL All-Star head coaches are determined by winning percentage based on the cutoff date of Friday, December 23rd. Colorado's Chris Stewart will coach the Northern Conference for the second straight season. Ruskowski coached the Southern Conference in 2004 in Albuquerque.
GOAL #100
- Bucks forward James Hiebert scored the team's 100th goal of the year with an empty netter on 12/23 in a 5-3 win over Austin. The Bucks lead the CHL with 107 goals.
THIRD PERIOD SCORING
- The Bucks scored a pair of third period goals to beat Austin 5-3 on 12/23, then scored two third period goals to beat Corpus Christi 4-2 on Wednesday. Laredo has scored 42 third period goals this season, the most in the CHL.
POWER PLAY HEATING UP
- The Bucks have now scored in six straight games on the man advantage, going 7-36 (19.4 %) over that stretch.
GREAT DEFENSE
- Laredo has given up only 43 goals in the last 19 games, or 2.26 per game. The Bucks have allowed more than two goals in a game just five times since 11/20.

- Laredo is number one in the CHL in goals allowed per game at 2.76.

- 12/28/05 - WEDNESDAY - vs. CORPUS CHRISTI-The Laredo Bucks got a pair of goals from forward Jeff Bes as they beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 4-2 in front of 5,715 fans on Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks picked up their third straight win and extended their lead in the Southeast Division to 10 points. Overall Laredo is now 18-8-3 moving a season high ten games over .500. David Lemanowicz stopped 26 of 28 shots and got the win to run his record to 6-1-1. Brent Zelenewich allowed three goals on 39 shots and took the loss to fall to 4-5-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Corpus Christi 2.

- 12/27/05 - TUESDAY - @ RIO GRANDE VALLEY- The Laredo Bucks gutted out a tough 3-1 win on Tuesday night over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Dodge Arena in front of 5,589 fans. Bucks goalie Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 31 of 32 shots to help the Bucks end the Killer Bees franchise record six game win streak. Laredo is now 17-8-3, a season high nine games over .500, and they increase their lead in the Southeast Division to eight points over the Killer Bees. Grumet-Morris gave up just one goal to improve to 5-2-1. Evan Lindsey allowed two goals on 30 shots and fell to 11-7-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Rio Grande Valley 1.

- 12/23/05 - FRIDAY - vs. AUSTIN- The Laredo Bucks scored a big third period power play goal to beat the Austin Ice Bats 5-3 in front of 5,404 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Friday night. With the win Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski clinched the head coaching position for the Southern Conference All-Star team. Laredo is now 16-8-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 35 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 23 of 26 shots and got the win to run his record to 5-1-1. Miguel Beaudry allowed four goals on 40 shots and fell to 5-7-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Austin 3.
