Bucks Steamrolled In Arizona 9-0
PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the the Arizona Sundogs 9-0 Wednesday night at Tim's Toyota Center. The Bucks suffered their worst loss in franchise history as they fall to 3-2-2 (eight points), while the Sundogs pick up their first home win of the year and improve to 3-4-1 (seven points).
Scott Thauwald picked up a hat trick and an assist for Arizona, while J.F Perras stopped all 28 Bucks shots he faced to pick up the shutout.
The Sundogs jumped out in front of the Bucks as they took a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Torren Delforte tipped in a shot on the power-play at the 7:25 mark of the first period to give Arizona a 1-0 lead.
Arizona would take a 2-0 lead 9:32 into the first when Scott Thauwald scored a breakaway goal after picking a loose puck up in the Bucks zone. It was Thauwald's first of the season.
The Bucks were outshot in the first period 10-7.
The Sundogs exploded for five second period goals to take a 7-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Kevin Gardner (3:04), Evan Shaw (10:07), Delforte (10:30), Joey Sides (14:33) and Thauwald (19:58) each tallied the second period for Arizona.
Shaw and Delforte's goals were 23 seconds apart, with Delforte picking up his second of the night.
The Bucks were outshot in the second period 14-12.
Arizona tacked on two more goals in the third period, with Gardner (4:21) and Thauwald (6:40) tallying. Thauwald's goal was shorthanded.
Laredo was outshot for the game 33-28.
Kyle Gajewski suffered the loss in net as he stopped 24 of 33 Sundogs shots.
Laredo was 0-for-seven on the power-play, while Arizona was one-for-five.
The Bucks and Sundogs will meet again in Arizona Friday and Saturday.
