Bucks' Smith Earns Player Of The Week Honors

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced Monday that Darryl Smith has been named the Oakley/CHL player of the week for the period ending January 24th.

Smith scored eight points (6-28) in three games last week and had a plus-three rating leading the Bucks to a 2-1 record against the top two teams in the Northern Conference.

The 22-year-old Smith had two goals each in all three games to increase his team-leading total to 22. Smith has picked up 37 points (22-1537) in 35 games this season with the Bucks.

Smith, from Thorold, Ontario, scored two goals in the first period of the Bucks 4-2 win over Colorado on Wednesday (Jan. 20th) and scored two goals in the third period and added an assist in the Bucks 6-4 loss to the Eagles on Friday (Jan. 22nd). Smith picked up two goals (one in the first and one in the third period) and added an assist in Saturday's 5-3 come-from-behind-win over first-place Rapid City.

This is Smith's second CHL player of the week award as he took home the honors on December 8th of last season.

Smith, 5'11, 190 pounds, garnered Rookie of the Year honors last season when he put up 70 points (36-3470), including a CHL-leading 36 goals. Smith has scored 107 points (58-49107) in 95 career CHL games. Smith has been called up to the AHL twice so far in his career, as he played four games for Houston last season and one game for Manitoba this season.

**PINK IN THE RINK JAN. 29**

The Bucks will host their second annual "Pink in the Rink" game on Friday January 29th at the LEC. If the game is sold out the Bucks will donate $10,000 to WINGS. WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving and Sharing) helps uninsured or underinsured women of Laredo receive treatment for breast cancer.

The Bucks will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. The first 4,000 fans to enter the arena will receive FREE pink thunderstix.

**FAITH **AND** FAMILY NIGHT & **BOY** SCOUT NIGHT JAN 30**

The Bucks will host Faith and Family night on Saturday January 30th when they host Corpus Christi Ice Rays at the LEC. Local churches or family organizations can receive ticket discounts for the game that night. Call Cy Agley at 956-523-6592.

There will be a live performance at the game from New Method, a top five Christian Band.

The 2010 Central Hockey League All Star online jersey auction will end Tuesday (Jan. 26th).

All jerseys (South Texas and CHL) can be found in the following categories: sports memorabelia, cards and fan shop, fan apparel and souvenirs, and hockey-minors.

The auction will run from Saturday January 16th until Tuesday January 26th at www.ebay.com. The minimum auction bid is $200.
