Allen Americans News Release
GAME RECAPS
MONDAY, JAN. 18 vs. ARZ (W 4-2): Allen swiftly beat Arizona in the Sundogs' second and final visit of the season. The Americans' 25th win was an up-tempo game. The Sundogs struck first in the first period, but the Americans responded with two goals in the second from Liam Huculak and Justin Bowers. The third period had three goals in the first five minutes. Bruce Graham scored on the power play 1:54 into the frame, and the Sundogs fired back to bring the game to 3-2. Nino Musitelli popped one in the net to give the Americans their two-goal advantage back and secured the win.
THURSDAY, JAN. 21 @ MIZ (W 4-1): In the first meeting of the CHL's expansion teams, Allen dominated the game, winning 4-1 on the road. Captain Jarret Lukin netted the first goal toward the end of the opening frame. The Americans jumped out the gates in the second period after Nino Musitelli set up Jordie Benn for the second tally. Missouri found the back of the net, but Lukin scored two minutes later to regain Allen's two-goal lead. Liam Huculak scored before the middle frame was over to make it 4-1 heading into the third. Neither team scored in the final period.
FRIDAY, JAN. 22 vs. AMA (OTL 3-2): The Americans battled back to earn a point against the Amarillo Gorillas during the clubs' first ever meeting. After going down a goal in the first period, Bill Loupée deflected a shot from defenseman Kurtis Dulle to tie the score. The Gorillas were able to net another tally before the opening frame ended, but the Americans responded strongly in the second firing 22 shots at Tuomas Lohtander. Tobias Whelan tipped a shot from Colton Yellow Horn midway through the second to tie the game 2-2. Neither team scored in the third period, but Amarillo's Neil Smith lit the lamp 51 seconds into overtime to give the Gorillas the extra point.
SATURDAY, JAN. 23 vs. BOS (W 5-1): Allen beat the Mudbugs for the third time this season Saturday night. 2010 CHL All-Star Justin Bowers shined in the victory, assisting every Americans goal of the night. The Mudbugs scored the first goal in the game but couldn't get any more past Chris Whitley, who was a brick wall the rest of the game. Jordie Benn, Bruce Graham and Nino Musitelli scored, and Christian Gaudet grabbed two tallies. Whitley stopped 33 shots on the night. Musitelli also had two assists and Benn had one.
