Bucks Sign Lindauer for 2011 Season

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of infielder Thomas Lindauer, from Moline, Illinois, to their roster for the 2011 season. Prep Baseball Report listed Lindauer,a freshman at the University of Illinois, as the No. 4 defensive infielder in the state. Lindauer joins fellow Illini teammate Davis Hendrickson with the Bucks for the summer.

A graduate of Moline High School, Lindauer was named the Quad City Times Athlete of the Year in 2010 and to the All-Big 6 Conference first team 2008-2010. In 2009, he hit .405 with eight home runs, 41 RBI, and 47 runs as a right-handed batter and thrower. Lindauer also received varsity letters in basketball and golf.

"We have always had very good luck with players that have been sent to us by Illinois associate head coach and former Bucks field manager Eric Snider, and Thomas is no exception," said Bucks Coach Travis Kiewiet. "We are expecting Thomas to help solidify the middle infield for us this summer. He comes to us highly recommended and will be counted on throughout the season to bring his energy and enthusiasm for the game of baseball to the field every day."

Born December 2, 1991, Lindauer, at 6'1" and 155-pounds, comes from an athletic family. His father, Derek Lindauer, played baseball and basketball at Murray State University, his mother, Andria McDermott, played softball at University of South Carolina, and his uncle, Dirk Lindauer, played baseball at Missouri State University.

"I have heard good things about Waterloo from former players Willie Argo and Chris Pack," said Lindauer. "They say it's a great time and the atmosphere of the games is better than most leagues. I look forward to contributing my skills in the following years."

The Bucks will open the 2011 season on the road at the Battle Creek Bombers on June 1. Waterloo's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 at 6:35 pm versus the Eau Claire Express.
