Waterloo Bucks News Release

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks have announced that outfielder Joel Booker has signed to play with the team for the 2015 season. Booker, a junior at the University of Iowa, is the 25th player to be named to Waterloo's roster for the squad's 21st season.

This season for the Hawkeyes, Booker is hitting .291 with 18 RBI in 28 games. The 6'1", 190-pounder has hit two home runs with six stolen bases and owns a .391 slugging percentage.

"Signing Joel was a no-brainer for us," said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin. "He was at the top of our list in the fall after talking to former Bucks coach Scott Brickman who is now an assistant at Iowa. Joel has a bunch of tools and might be selected in the upcoming MLB Draft."

Booker transferred to Iowa from Indian Hills Community College where he was an honorable mention All-American and first team All-Region honoree last season. The Columbus, North Carolina native hit .403 with 75 hits, 61 RBI, and a .699 slugging percentage as a sophomore.

Born November 1, 1993, Booker attended Polk County High School where he was a North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State Division 2A honoree in both 2011 and 2012. Joel is the son of Clemon Booker and Cathy Elliott.

The Bucks, the winningest team in all of summer-collegiate baseball over the past two years, will open the 2015 season on the road versus the Alexandria Blue Anchors on May 26, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus the Mankato MoonDogs on May 28.
