
Bucks Rout Rays 7-0, Traylen Gets Shutout

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League routed the Corpus Christi Rays Friday night 7-0, in front of 5,820 fans in their home opener at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks improved to 4-0 for only the second time in team history. They started the 2003-04 campaign 5-0. Bucks goaltender Dustin Traylen (pictured) set aside all 27 Rayz shots he faced to pick up his first shutout of the season. Laredo picked up their second straight shutout as they blanked Amarillo Tuesday.
After a scoreless first period the Bucks came out on fire in the second period taking a 3-0 lead. Rookie forward Brent MacSween got Laredo on the board first at 4:27 of the period as he scored unassisted to give the Bucks a 1-0 lead. Laredo made it 2-0 when 2007 All-Star Adam Rivet scored at the 11:58 mark. Steve Simoes picked up his first assist of the year. Laredo capped the second period scoring at 13:24 when captain Serge Dube scored a shorthanded goal. Corpus Christi (1-2-0) outshot the Bucks 17-10 in the second period.
The Bucks made it 4-0 at 4:54 of the third when MacSween scored on the power-play, with the assist from David Walker. It was MacSween's league leading third power-play goal of the campaign. Andrew Dejardins then scored two straight goals for the Bucks, both assisted by Corey Courchene giving Laredo a 6-0 lead at the 9:34 mark. Matt Summers capped the Bucks scoring with an unassisted goal at the 10:27 mark. It was Summers third goal of the season.
MacSween and Dejardins both picked up two goals, with Courchene handing out two assists in the blowout win. Traylen made several tough saves to pick up the shutout, he improves to 3-0 in the Laredo net.
The Bucks will look to match their best start in team history as they look to go to 5-0 Saturday night, when they host Amarillo.
