Laredo Bucks News Release

Terry Ruskowski will lead his team on the ice for the first time as Team President/General Manager and Head Coach on Friday, as the Bucks look to get back in the win column.

Laredo went 0-1-1 last week, as they fell to 2-1 Thursday to Corpus in a shootout, and lost in Odessa 3-2 on Saturday to fall five points back of the Jackalopes for first place in the Southern Conference. Laredo leads Texas in the Southeast Division by four points entering this weekend.

Jeff Bes leads the CHL in scoring with 40 points (8-32=40), despite being held off the score sheet in three of the Bucks last four games, while Darryl Smith leads all rookies in scoring with 33 points (17-16=33).

The Bucks have won three straight games against the Killer Bees this season, with all three victories coming at the LEC.

Rio Grande Valley enters Friday's game with a new-look roster, after several roster moves last week. The Bees placed player/assistant coach Travis Banga on the 30-day IR, while placing Ryan Shymr on the 14-day IR. On Monday Rio waived Veteran Forward Rob Voltera, who put up 11 points in 15 games.

Since starting a team-best 5-0, the Killer Bees are 5-4-2 since, including 3-3 in the month of December.

Jesse Bennefield (9-13=22) and Robin Bouchard (6-16=22) each have 22 points to lead the Bees in scoring.

Rio will be playing game two of a three-in-three, as they travel to Corpus Christi on Thursday night, before playing the Bucks on Friday, and traveling to Odessa on Saturday.

On Friday the Bucks will host Rio Grande Valley on Posada Night. During both intermissions there will be special on-ice re-enactments of the Posada, and Pastorella, as well as live music. Part of the proceeds of ticket sales will go to either Youth Ministry, or the Church Registered.

Also on Friday the Bucks, along with the Laredo Animal Protective Society, will hold Pet Fest 2008, where you can adopt a dog or cat this holiday season. Dog Adoption is $70, with Cat Adoption costing just $40.

On Saturday December 20th the Bucks will wear their annual holiday jersey's when they host Corpus Christi. After the game the jersey's will be auctioned off, with Bucks Head Coach and General Manager Terry Ruskowski serving as the auctioneer. Come see what the Bucks holiday jersey's look like this year!
