Colorado Back on Top of Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll
Published on December 18, 2008 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
After falling to #2 in the previous Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll, the Colorado Eagles have regained their spot atop the by-weekly poll. The Eagles are 18-4-0 and have the highest winning percentage in the CHL. The Odessa Jackalopes made a huge jump moving from #6 to #2 and the Jacks actually finished with two more first place votes than the Eagles. Odessa is currently on an 11-game win streak (the longest in the CHL this season). The Jacks have won eight straight home games and seven straight road games (their 10-1-0 road mark is the best in the league). Oklahoma City was #1 in the previous poll (released on December 3rd) but dropped to #3 in the current poll. The Blazers did receive four first place votes and are coming off a shootout win on Wednesday in Colorado. However, voting was completed prior to the Eagles-Blazers game.
The Corpus Christi IceRays are the only new addition debuting at #9 after going 5-3-2 in their last 10 games. They replace the expansion Rapid City Rush who fall out of the poll for the first time this season. Other than Colorado (#3 to #1) and Odessa ($6 to #2), no other team moved up in the poll. Falling two spots each were Texas (#4 to #6) and Oklahoma City (#1 to #3).
The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month through the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.
