Bucks Hiebert Voted CHL/Oakley Player of The Week

AMARILLO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Monday that forward James Hiebert was voted the CHL/Oakley player of the week for the opening week of the season. This is the second CHL/Oakley player of the week honor for Hiebert, he also won this award for the week of March 8, 2005.

Hiebert had a very productive opening weekend, scoring four goals (one on the power-play) while handing out an assist (on the power-play), and netting a short-handed goal in the Bucks two wins over New Mexico. In Friday's 8-2 win over the Scorpions, Hiebert scored two-goals- including the game-winning, short-handed goal in the second period- while handing out a power-play assist. In Saturday's 5-4 overtime come back win, Hiebert scored two goals, including a power-play goal, to help lead the Bucks back from deficits of 3-0, and 4-1.

Hiebert, a 2006 CHL All-Star, is in his fifth season with the Bucks, and was a part of Laredo's two President's Cup Championship teams.

Youngstown Steelhounds goalie Andy Franck was voted the CHL goalie of the week.

The Bucks look to finish their season opening road trip at 3-0 Tuesday, when they play in Amarillo. Game Time is 11am.
