The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending October 21st, 2007 are right wing James Hiebert of the Laredo Bucks and goaltender Andy Franck of the Youngstown SteelHounds.

Hiebert helped lead the defending Southern Conference Champion Bucks to a pair of road victories against the New Mexico Scorpions. In Friday's 8-2 victory, Hiebert gave the Bucks a 3-1 lead with just two seconds remaining in the first period, the goal would turn out to be the game winner for Laredo. He also added a second period goal and an assist. In Saturday's come-from-behind 5-4 victory, the Hay River, Northwest Territory native got the offense rolling with two second period goals pulling the Bucks to within striking distance where they eventually won in overtime 5-4. For the week, the 5-10, 200-pound forward had a league-leading four goals with an assist and was a +2 (plus/minus).

Franck was outstanding in net during two road victories for the SteelHounds, Friday in Oklahoma City and Saturday in Mississippi. The Lakewood, Ohio native stopped 65 of 70 shots he faced for a .929 save percentage while carrying a 2.51 goals against average. In Friday's 4-2 victory over the Blazers, Franck stopped 37 shots including 15 of 16 in the third period. The 6-0, 185-pound goaltender faced 17 total power plays in the two games and allowed just two power play goals.

In recognition of their achievement, both Hiebert and Franck will receive a special gift from Oakley.
