
Bucks Fall 4-1 To SteelHounds, Laredo's Eight Game Win Streak Ends

LAREDO, Texas - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks fell 4-1 to the visiting Youngstown SteelHounds at the LEC on Saturday night. Forward Mark Odut scored a pair of goals as the SteelHounds ended the Bucks season high eight game win streak. Laredo remains a Southern Conference best 22-9-2 with 46 points. The Bucks are in Rio Grande Valley on Sunday. Laredo returns home on Saturday against the Wichita Thunder. The Bucks are offering season tickets starting at $125 dollars. The game featured great flow in the first period as 5:29 ticked off the clock before the first whistle. Laredo scored first when rookie forward Bobby Chaumont found fellow rookie forward Chris Korchinski in the slot for a one-timer at 10:13. It was the third straight game with a goal for Korchinski and his 14th of the year.
The SteelHounds drew even in the second period of play. Odut got to a rebound and slipped it home at 10:37 on a power play chance. Late in the period at 16:51 Odut scored again to give Youngstown a 2-1 lead.
Early in the third period the SteelHounds extended their lead. Defenseman Stephen Margeson ripped a slap shot from the right wall top corner at 2:12 to make it 3-1 Youngstown. SteelHounds forward Jeff Christian finished the scoring with an empty netter at 19:33. FINAL SCORE Youngstown 4, Laredo 1.
Kevin Reiter allowed three goals on 25 shots and took the loss to fall to 5-2-0. Brad Roberts was solid stopping 20 of 21 shots to improve to 8-5-2. The Bucks were 0-4 on the power play while Youngstown went 1-6. Laredo was out shot by the SteelHounds 26-21.
