Bucks Bounce Back With Points In Three Of Four

LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks rebounded from a slow start to the 2004-05 CHL season by recording points in three of four games this past week. Thursday the Bucks picked up a point with a 3-2 shootout loss to Bossier-Shreveport at the LEC. Friday night the Bucks dropped a 4-2 decision in Austin. Saturday the Bucks returned home and recorded a 5-3 win over Amarillo. Tuesday the Bucks returned the favor to Austin with a 5-2 victory over the Ice Bats at the LEC. This Saturday the Bucks host the Memphis RiverKings. Face off is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Laredo travels to Austin. 2005 CHL ALL-STAR GAME IN LAREDO

· The Laredo Bucks will host the 2005 CHL All-Star Game at the LEC. The All-Star Game banquet will take place on Monday, January 10th and will be held at the LEC. The CHL skills competition will take place separate from the game and will be held on Tuesday, January 11th. The 2005 CHL All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, January 12th.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS

• On Saturday night the Bucks will have their First Annual Teddy Bear Toss sponsored by the Texas Exes and The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to the game and toss them on the ice after the conclusion of the game against the Memphis RiverKings. Teddy bears will also be available for purchase at the game for $1.

BUCKS VERSUS UPCOMING OPPONENTS

MEMPHIS RIVERKINGS · This is the first of two meetings this year between the teams. The Bucks host the RiverKings this Saturday then travel to Memphis on January 29th.

2003-04: The Bucks were 1-0-0 against Memphis last year. Laredo beat the RiverKings 4-3 on March 5th. All-time Laredo is 2-1-0 against Memphis, including 1-0-0 at the LEC.

AUSTIN ICE BATS · This is the fifth of 11 meetings this year between the teams. Laredo beat Austin 6-2 at the Bat Cave on 10/24. Bucks forward Jeff Bes had a pair of goals in the win. The Ice Bats responded with a 3-1 win over the Bucks on 11/06 at the LEC. All three Austin goals came on the power play. On 11/12 in Austin the Ice Bats rallied from a 1-0 third period deficit and registered a 4-2 victory. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 5-2 on 11/16 at the LEC. Serge Dube had a pair of goals. The Bucks are 1-18 on the man advantage in the series, while Austin is 5-24.

2003-04: The Bucks were 8-1-1 last year against Austin and outscored the Ice Bats 37-16. Laredo was 4-1-0 at the Bat Cave. All-time the Bucks are 13-10-1 against Austin, and 5-6-0 all-time at the Bat Cave.

BUCKS BOUNCE BACK

· Despite a tough start to the season the Bucks have recorded points in three of the last four games and are now just one point out of first place in the SE Division.

BUCKS BREAK FRANCHISE RECORD STREAK

· With a 5-3 win over Amarillo on Saturday the Bucks put an end to a franchise record six game winless streak.

OFFENSE IS HEATING UP

· After struggling to score in the first nine games of the season, the Bucks have scored 10 goals in the last two games. This is the most goals Laredo has scored in back-to-back games this year.

MAGIC MARK

· Laredo is 4-1-0 when they score four goals or more.

FRANCHISE RECORD

· Bucks defenseman Serge Dube played in his 128th game with the Bucks on Tuesday. Dube surpassed forward Chris Grenville, 127 games played with Laredo, for the most regular season games played in Bucks franchise history.

BUCKS PENALTY KILL IS HEATING UP

· The Bucks really struggled on the penalty kill at the start of the year. Over the last four games Laredo has stopped 25 of the last 28 opposition power play chances.

BUCKS POWER PLAY STILL STRUGGLING

· Laredo is 0 for their last 23 power play chances, and the Bucks are last in the CHL at 8.3 % on the man advantage, having scored just four power play goals in 48 chances.

· 11/16/04 – TUESDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks scrapped their way to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Austin Ice Bats in front of 6,106 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center in an 11 a.m. school kids matinee game. Bucks defenseman Serge Dube, who set a new Bucks franchise record with his 128th career game played, tallied a pair of goals to help Laredo win their second straight game. The Bucks are 4-6-1 and move into second place in the SE Division with nine points. David Guerrera stopped 14 of 16 shots and won his second straight game to improve to 3-4-1. Matt Barnes allowed five goals on 36 shots and fell to 5-3-0 as his personal three game win streak ended.

· 11/13/04 – SATURDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks snapped a franchise record six game winless streak with a 5-3 victory over the Amarillo Gorillas in front of 5,823 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Forward Scott Kelman scored a pair of goals to help the Bucks improve to 3-6-1 and move into third place in the SE division. Bucks goalie David Guerrera stopped 19 of 22 shots and improved to 2-4-1. Steve Briere allowed four goals on 28 shots and fell to 1-3-1.

· 11/12/04 – FRIDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks carried a 1-0 lead to the third, but were unable to hold on as the Austin Ice Bats rallied for a 4-2 win in front of 4,490 fans at the Bat Cave. The Bucks are winless in a franchise record six consecutive games. Bucks goalie Jeremy Symington allowed four goals on 29 shots and dropped to 1-2-0. Matt Barnes was stellar once again, stopping 32 of 34 shots and improving to 4-2-0.

· 11/11/04 – THURSDAY – The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks dropped a 3-2 shootout loss to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in front of 6,049 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Mudbugs forward Dan Wildfong had two goals, including the game winner in the shootout, and also added an assist. The Bucks are now winless in a franchise record five straight and are 2-5-1. David Guerrera stopped 21 of 23 shots, but took the hard luck shootout loss to fall to 1-4-1. Ken Carroll was outstanding as he turned aside 33 of 35 shots to get the win and improve to 2-1-0.
