Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Lexington, KY - For the first time all year, Jorge Bucardo lost in back-to-back starts as the Augusta GreenJackets fell 4-1 to the Lexington Legends, splitting the four-game set in the Bluegrass State on Wednesday afternoon.

Chris Dominguez got the Jackets on the board first with a fourth-inning line drive home run to the left field bleachers to put Augusta up 1-0. Bucardo allowed the first two hitters to reach in the bottom of the fourth on a walk and single before uncorking a wild pitch to move them into scoring position. A groundout and a sacrifice fly followed to put the Legends up 2-1.

Bucardo was touched up again in the fifth, loading the bases with two outs on a pair of singles and a hit batsman. Jake Goebbert's two-run single extended Lexington's lead to 4-1.

For the second straight start, Bucardo allowed four earned runs after allowing fewer than four in every prior start this season. Bucardo (8-4) fired six innings and allowed just five hits, but walked four while striking out three. The four walks equaled the most in a start for Bucardo since May 9th.

Lexington starter Juan Minaya (3-8) avoiding a tie with Chris Heston for the league lead in losses. Minaya fired five innings of one-run baseball and yielded six hits and a walk while striking out six. Zachary Grimmett earned his second save of the season after throwing four scoreless innings of one-hit baseball in relief of Minaya.

The GreenJackets return home to open a five-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators on Thursday night, sending Andy Reichard (0-0, 3.52) to the mound against Matt Hopps (1-6, 5.53). First pitch will come at 7:05 p.m. with the pregame action beginning at 6:50 p.m. on WRDW AM 1630, www.greenjacketsbaseball.com and www.wrdwam.com.
