Omaha Lancers News Release

RALSTON, NE - In the second of four head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Omaha Lancers slowly constructed a 3-0 win over the Chicago Steel from the net out on Friday, building on a 29 save performance from veteran goaltender Cole Bruns in the Prairie Grove, Illinois native's USHL-best sixth shutout of the season and fourth shutout at Ralston Arena. With the win, the Lancers improved to 13-2-1 overall this season and with 27 points, remain alone atop the Western Conference and overall USHL standings.

After an occasionally sloppy first period for both sides, the Lancers broke the ice at 6:34 of the second, taking a 1-0 lead on Omaha captain Tucker Poolman's fourth goal of the season, a power-play rebound tally assisted by Gage Hough and Tyler Vesel. Later in the period, Randolph squibbed home a similarly quirky second-effort chance at even strength, as Hough and Lancers defenseman Connor Light set up the future Nebraska-Omaha Maverick at 13:36. The third period's only goal was a Hough empty-netter, assisted by Randolph and Vesel with 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

Next up for the Lancers, it's a Saturday journey to Young Arena in Waterloo, Iowa to take on the fourth-place Waterloo Black Hawks at the site of Omaha's only regulation road loss this season. Full coverage of Saturday's game will be tape-delayed and air immediately following "Big Red Overreaction" after the Nebraska- Michigan State game on the Lancers' flagship station, "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL with Lancers broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.

In 2013-14, the five-time Anderson Cup and seven-time Clark Cup Champion Omaha Lancers drop the puck on their 28th season in the USHL. Season ticket packages for the Lancers' second campaign at the state-of-the-art Ralston Arena are available now starting at just $12.50 per game!
