Austin Bruins News Release
AUSTIN, MN - The Bruins saw their six-game win streak come to an end Friday night as the North Iowa Bulls beat the Bruins by the final of 3-2.
Coming off of a 3-0 shutout on Wednesday night in St. Cloud, the Bruins looked to continue that momentum on Black Friday against the North Iowa Bulls. For the Bulls, they looked to bounce back after an 8-1 loss to Bismarck last Saturday and did a good job in doing so as Landon Peterson would get his first goal of the season a little under twelve minutes into the game to give the Bulls the early lead. Bruins Goalie Ethan Robertson would be removed from the game following the goal as he suffered a lower-body injury and would be replaced by Trent Wiemken. The success of the Bruins' Power Play would continue as Josh Giuliani would redirect a shot from Ocean Wallace to tie the game up at 1-1. That would be the Maple Grove, MN native's 7th goal of the year.
North Iowa's goalie Mitch Day would stand tall during the second period, as he would see many point-blank shots from the Bruins to help keep the Bulls in the game until Max Scott would give them the lead with under two minutes left in the 2nd period. Scott's 9th of the year would give the Bulls a 2-1 lead to the locker room after two periods of play inside Riverside Arena. Eli Miller would extend the lead for the Bulls with his 5th of the season late in the 3rd but Austin Salani would sneak one past Day to pull the Bruins back within one goal, but wouldn't be able to complete the comeback and see their season-high six-game win streak snapped in the 3-2 loss.
The Bruins wrap up the weekend with a rematch with the Bulls tomorrow night in Mason City with a 7:10 puck drop from the Mason City Arena.
