The Philadelphia Rebels edged the Johnstown Tomahawks Friday night at Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell with a 5-3 win for the first of three games this weekend.
Drake Albers opened the scoring Friday night for Johnstown with his tenth goal of the season coming 5:28 into the first period. Then with 2:16 remaining in the first period, Luke DeVries tied the game for Philadelphia, scoring his second goal of the season.
Johnstown's Nick Ahern netted his first goal of the season at the 13:13 mark of the second period, giving the Tomahawks a 2-1 lead. It was all Philadelphia for the remainder of the period as they scored three goals in 2:28 (Maxwell Maquette (2), Klaus Jogi) to give the Rebels a 4-2 lead to start the final 20.
The Tomahawks scored the first goal of the period yet again in the third, coming from Zach Aben 5:38 into the frame, putting the Tomahawks within one. Joshua Player secured the win for the Philadelphia Rebels in his NAHL debut, putting the Rebels up 5-3 to close the game.
The Tomahawks and Rebels face off again tomorrow night from Hollydell Ice Arena at 7:30 PM. The game will be broadcasted live on HockeyTV.
