Bruins-Ams Game 6 Tonight At Prospera Centre

The Chilliwack Bruins will once again try to extend their season when they host the Tri City Americans in game six of their best of seven first round playoff series tonight at 5pm. The Bruins, who trail the series three games to two staved off elimination Friday night when Kevin Sundher scored in overtime to give the Bruins a 4-3 come from behind win.

Game 1: Americans 4 Bruins 2

Kruise Reddick and Sergei Drozd each notched a goal and an assist as the Tri-City Americans doubled up the visiting Chilliwack Bruins 4-2 in Game 1 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Friday.

Johnny Lazo and Neal Prokop also scored and Brooks Macek chipped in two assists for the Americans, who scored all four goals in a four-minute span in the third period after trailing 1-0 after the first two periods. Drew Owsley made 33 saves to claim his first career post-season win.

Dylen McKinlay and Ryan Howse scored for the Bruins, who converted both power play chances they had in the contest, but end up trailing the best-of-seven series 1-0. Lucas Gore made 33 saves in a losing cause.

Tri-City leads best-of-seven series 1-0.

Game 2: Americans 8 Bruins 1

Brendan Shinnimin scored three goals and added an assist while Todd Kennedy scored twice to lead the Tri-City Americans to an 8-1 win over the visiting Chilliwack Bruins in Game 2 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Saturday.

Kruise Reddick - with a goal and an assist - Jordan Messier and Eric Messier also scored while Justin Feser and Adam Hughesman each chipped in three assists for the Americans, who scored six times on the power play in the contest. Drew Owsley and Alex Pechurskiy combined for 35 saves in the victory, with Owsley earning his second post-season win.

Roman Horak scored the only goal for the Bruins, who outshot the Ams 36-32 but now find themselves down 0-2 in the best-of-seven series. Lucas Gore and Braden Gamble combined for 24 saves in the loss.

The Bruins host Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday and Wednesday in Chilliwack, B.C.

Game 3: Bruins 5 Americans 1

Ryan Howse scored twice and Dylen McKinlay notched a goal and two assists as the Chilliwack Bruins skated to a 5-1 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans in Game 3 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Tuesday.

Kevin Sundher and Jamie Crooks also scored and Brandon Manning chipped in two helpers for the Bruins, who were outshot 49-30 by the visiting Americans. Lucas Gore turned in a 48-save performance to backstop the Bruins to the win.

Brendan Shinnimin - with his fourth of the post-season - scored the only goal for the Americans, who converted one of nine power play chances in the contest. Drew Owsley stopped nine of 13 shots he faced through the first 28 minutes of the game before giving way to Alex Pechurskiy, who made 16 saves on 17 shots the rest of the way.

Game 4: Americans 4 Bruins 3

Kruise Reddick scored the winner 15:09 into overtime to lift the visiting Tri-City Americans to a 4-3 win over the Chilliwack Bruins in Game 4 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Wednesday in Chilliwack, B.C.

Patrick Holland, Brendan Shinnimin and Brooks Macek also scored for the Americans, who led 3-1 until the Bruins tied the game with two quick goals in the final 22 second of the third period before winning in overtime. Drew Owsley made 33 stops to record the win.

Ryan Howse, Kevin Sundher and Jamie Crooks all notched a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who now trail the best-of-seven series 1-3 and face elimination with another loss. Lucas Gore made 33 saves in the defeat.

The Americans will host the Bruins for game 5 of the series on Friday in Kennewick, WA.

Game 5: Bruins 4 Americans 3 OT Kevin Sundher scored 7:16 into overtime to lift the visiting Chilliwack Bruins to a 4-3 win over the Tri-City Americans in Game 5 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Friday.

Alexander Wiklund scored twice and Ryan Howse also scored for the Bruins, who once again erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to force overtime, while Roman Horak picked up three assists.

Lucas Gore turned in a 44-save performance to backstop the Bruins to the victory. Brooks Macek scored twice and Kruise Reddick notched a goal and an assist for the Americans, who went 1-for-8 on the man advantage in the defeat.

Drew Owsley turned aside 30 of 34 shots he faced in a losing cause. The Bruins host Game 6 of the best-of-seven series on Sunday in Chilliwack, B.C.
