Two first half touchdowns from Fred Brown not enough as Vegas defeats San Antonio behind a strong debut from QB Jalan Mclendon and over 336 yards of offense.
First Series, First Score
For the third time this season, the Brahmas scored a touchdown on their opening drive. Quarterback Kurt Benkert, who made his first start of the XFL season, threw a one-yard TD pass to receiver Fred Brown to cap off a six play, 77-yard drive. The score gave the Brahmas a 6-0 lead with 11:33 left in the first quarter. It was also Brown's first TD reception since week one.
Brown's Big Day
Receiver Fred Brown made history when he returned a kickoff 96 yards for a TD in the second quarter. Brown's kick return TD was the first of the season across the XFL. The return gave the Brahmas a 12-11 lead with 10:57 left in the first half. Brown was responsible for all 12 of the Brahma's first half points after catching a TD pass in the first quarter.
Akers sets a Brahmas Best
Receiver Landen Akers set a new game high for the Brahmas in receiving yards in the loss. Akers became the first receiver in Brahmas history to earn over 70 yards in a single game (75). Akers hauled in five receptions on six targets and averaged 12.8 yards per reception. Akers also hauled in a 23-yard reception in the third quarter, the Brahmas longest play of the game.
