Broncos Game Suspended in Top of 9th Inning With Broncos Leading Dillas 12-11

Amarillo, TX-The Laredo Broncos game against the Amarillo Dillas was suspended due to light failure on Saturday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. The Broncos continue on their 6 game trip when they open up a 3 game series with the San Angelo Colts on Sunday night. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

Jullian Williams started the game for the Broncos even though Sean Donlin was scheduled to start. Williams ran into trouble in the bottom of the 1st inning. With one out Keith Brachold hit a solo home run his 4th of the season. Then Gary Schneidmiller singled and went to 2nd on a walk to Danny Bravo. The next batter was AJ Johnson and he hit a 3 run homer to give the Dillas an early 4-0 lead.

The Broncos would get on the scoreboard in the top of the 2nd inning. With two outs, Ivan Reyes walked. Then Matt Lawman came up and hit a 2 run home run his 2nd of the season. That would cut Amarillo's lead in half to 4-2.

Laredo would strike again in the top of the 3rd inning. Luany Sanchez led off the inning reaching base on a error by shortstop Josh Ashton. The ball went into the tarp which allowed Sanchez to get to 2nd. Edgard Clemente would follow with a double scoring Sanchez. With two outs Ivan Reyes would triple which would score Clemente. Then Matt Lawman would hit an infield single scoring Reyes and giving the Broncos a 5-4 lead.

Amarillo would score again in the bottom of the 3rd. Keith Brachold led off with a solo home run his 2nd of game and 5th of the season. The Dillas would load the bases with no one out, but Julian Williams got Andrew Wong to hit into a 1-2-3 double play and then got Justin Wenger to fly out to end the threat and keep the score 5-5 after 3.

The Broncos would strike back in the top of the 4th. With two outs Edgard Clemente doubled off the centerfield wall, just missing a home run. Then Jose Salas followed with a single scoring Clemente and giving Laredo a 6-5 lead.

The bottom of the 4th inning brought some controversy to this game. With one out, Josh Ashton singled. Then Jonathan Reynoso hit a ball to right centerfield that looked to hit off the wall. But base umpire Dewey Larson ruled it a home run giving Reynoso his 5th of the season. Julian Willams and Dan Shwam got ejected from the game arguing with the umpire Larson. David Wasylak would come in and relieve Williams. After 4 innings the score was Amarillo 7 and Laredo 6.

The Broncos would strike back in the top of the 5th. With two outs Eric Padilla hit a double off the left field wall. After the play Edgard Clemente commenting on the previous inning's call was ejected by home plate umpire Kate Sargent. Anthony Bennett would enter the game for Clemente. After the double Dwayne White Singled in Padilla. White was picked off of 1st base but 1st baseman AJ Johnson threw the ball into left field allowing White to be safe at 2nd. Then Arnoldo Ponce singled scoring White. On the hit the left fielder Keith Brachold had the ball go under his glove allowing Ponce to take 2nd. Luany Sanchez would follow with a single scoring Ponce and give Laredo a 9-7 lead.

Dan Sausville would come into the game to relieve Wasylak in the bottom of the 6th inning. The first batter that inning Josh Ashton reached base on an error by Arnoldo Ponce. Jonathan Reynoso would follow with a single moving Ashton to 2nd. Keith Brachold would then double scoring Ashton and moving Reynoso to 3rd. With one out Danny Bravo hit a sacrifice fly scoring Reynoso and tying the game at 9 after 6.

The Broncos would get the lead back in the top of the 7th inning. With two outs Arnoldo Ponce doubled. The next batter Luany Sanchez would connect on a 2 run homer, his 5th of the season giving the Broncos an 11-9 lead.

The Broncos would tack on one more run in the top of the 8th inning. Jose Salas led off with a single and went to 2nd on a ground out by Ivan Reyes. Ben Day would come in and pinch run for Jose Salas. Matt Lawman would walk when reliever Ralph Roberts was relieved by David Koons. Koons was greeted rudely by Eric Padilla who hit a double scoring day and extending Laredo's lead to 12-9.

Rusty Jones would come out to in the 8th inning and run into some trouble. Jonathan Reynoso led off with a walk and advanced to 2nd on single by Keith Brachold. Both runners would advance a base on a wild pitch by Jones. Then Danny Bravo would single scoring Reynoso. AJ Johnson would then single scoring Brachold and making the game a run game. But, Rusty Jones would get Andrew Wong to hit into a double play to end the threat and keep the Broncos leading 12-11.

With a 1-1 count on Arnoldo Ponce in the top of the 9th, some of the lights went out at the ballpark. The game was officially suspended when the lights were not able to come back on. The game will resume from this spot in the game when Amarillo comes to Laredo on June 20th. The stats will not count in the game till the game is finished on the 20th of June.
