Brockton Uses Big Seventh Inning to Beat Suns

The Brockton Rox (13-5) took down the Pittsfield Suns (8-9) 7-1 on Tuesday at Wahconah Park after slamming the Pittsfield Suns with four runs in the seventh inning.

The Brockton Rox scored in the seventh on a single by Tom Stoffel, an RBI single by Zack Short, a two-run double by Bryce Myers, a two-run double by Myers, and an RBI single by Joe Freiday.

Max Ponzurick was hot from the plate for the Brockton Rox. Ponzurick went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.

The Brockton Rox relied on Simon Mathews to eat up innings en route to the win. Mathews pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks while striking out five.

Gary Tesch boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace the Pittsfield Suns. He singled in the first, third, sixth, and eighth innings.

Phil Reese ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
