Brockton Scores Three Against DePriest

(Nashua, NH) The Brockton Rox rallied for three runs in the ninth inning Friday night to defeat the Nashua Pride, 7-6, before 886 at Historic Holman Stadium. The Rox (7-5, 31-27) rally came against Nashua closer Derrick Depriest (0-1)who surrendered two walks and two hits in the final inning to suffer his first loss of the season. The go-ahead run crossed the plate on a fielder's choice grounder by SS Mike Scanzano who had a pair of RBI's on the night.

The Pride (4-8, 21-33) had a 6-4 lead entering the ninth inning before Brockton rallied and handed Nashua its sixth consecutive defeat.

Brockton catcher Jason Radwan and 2B Eugene Julien each had three hits and an RBI. Radwan also came across with the game-winning run in the ninth inning.

In his first game as a member of the Pride, RF Jayson Bass went three-for-five with a double and a towering home run.

Nashua DH Mark Hamilton went two-for-four including a two-run double in Nashua's four run first inning.

Pride starter Josh Stevens went six innings, allowing nine hits and three runs, two of them earned.

Brockton starter John Boker pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits and six runs, five of them earned. Reliever Wayne Lundgren (1-3) earned his first win of the season while closer John Kock picked up his ninth save by blanking the Pride in the bottom of the ninth.

The four-game series will resume Saturday evening at 7:05 in Nashua. Lefty Mark Hamilton (4-5, 4.68) will pitch for Nashua with righthander Joey Baker (2-3, 3.96) scheduled to be on the mound for Brockton.

World Cup skiing champ Bode Miller will be in the starting lineup for the Pride on Saturday night. Fans will be admitted to the ballpark starting at 4:30 pm to allow them the chance to see Miller take batting practice with the Pride. Fireworks will follow the game.
