
Brisebois Named as Finalist for QMJHL's Best Defenseman Award

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) has announced that Coyotes prospect Mathieu Brisebois (pronounced Mathew BREEZE-bwah) has been selected as one of three finalists for the Emile Bouchard Trophy, presented annually to the League's best defenseman. The winner will be announced at the Golden Puck Awards in Montreal on April 3rd.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Brisebois has recorded 19-54-73 and 101 PIM in 62 games with Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL) this season. He is currently leads the league in scoring by defensemen.
The 20-year-old was named the league's second star of the month for February after collecting 5-12-17 in 11 games with a plus-11 rating. He registered a point in 10 consecutive games while collecting two points in seven games.
The Mont St-Hilaire, Quebec native has set career highs in goals (19), assists (54) and points (73) this season. In 177 regular season games (three seasons) with the Huskies, Brisebois has recorded 39-108-147 and 239 PIM.
Brisebois played for the Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) in 2009-10 where he posted 0-7-7 in 31 games.
