Kansas City Brigade News Release
Merchandise Update
The Kansas City Brigade (AFL) unveiled their home and road uniforms last Friday and there has been an overwhelming response from fans inquiring about how and where to purchase Brigade items ever since. After the Arena Football League office approved the team name, logo, colors, and uniform, the team immediately went into the process of ordering all of the merchandise and apparel. This will include: replica jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, pennants, sideline polo's, novelties, and more. All of these products will begin arriving in the second week of January.
For more details, please check our web site www.kcbrigade.com and go to the Brigade Store link. When merchandise arrives, fans will be able to purchase items via our site, at the Kansas City Brigade front office during the week, at Kemper Arena on game day, and area stores to be announced later (Champs and Sports Nutz will carry items and more to come). Some merchandise will be sold at the Season Ticket Holders Party on January 18th (invitations to STH to be sent shortly) at Kemper Arena. Currently, there are Kansas City Brigade t-shirts and hats for sale at the KC Star store: www.thekansascitystore.com. The KC Star store will be the only place to purchase items online before January 1st.
Community Relations Appearances
The Kansas City Brigade organization prides itself on serving the local community. The Brigade has been actively involved with charities and other philanthropic groups since the team's inception. Here are some upcoming events:
Friday, December 16 - Salvation Army Bell ringers at Panera Bread Company by Town Center Plaza.
Tuesday, December 20 - Celebrity bartenders for the World's Largest Office Party at the Hyatt (benefiting the Ronald McDonald House). GM Reggie Harris, OL/DL Lucas Yarnell, and two Brigade cheerleaders (Mandy and Candace) will be on hand to serve drinks with all tips going to charity.
Wednesday, December 21 - Celebrity judge at Lucky Break, a karaoke contest held at the VooDoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino.
Friday, December 22 - Players and cheerleaders at The Peanut in Lee's Summit.
*** All of the Brigade players will be moving to Kansas City after Christmas, so in combination with the owners (Tyler Prochnow and Neil Smith), front office staff, and cheerleaders, the Brigade will be at a lot of appearances and events around KC.
Jersey Unveiling
The Kansas City Brigade unveiled their new home and road jersey and helmet last Friday at the 810 Zone in Town Center Plaza. There were eight players (Andy Kelly, BJ Cohen, Chris Pointer, Michael Landry, Lucas Yarnell, Sam Simmons, John Booth, and Cedrick Williams), owners Tyler Prochnow and Neil Smith, Head Coach Kevin Porter, GM Reggie Harris, and 13 members of the Brigade cheerleading squad on hand at the event. There was a great turnout of media and fans there as well.
Countdown to First Game
The countdown to the first Kansas City Brigade game is on. In only 39 days, the Brigade will play their inaugural game at the Dallas Desperados on Sunday, January 29th, at 2:00pm (CT).
www. kcbrigade.com Update
The Brigade launched a new version to their web site last week and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The new site features a chat room, store, photos, ticket info, and much more. The site will add all player and cheerleader headshots by next week. Since the revised site launched last Tuesday, there have been 1.4 million hits on the site.
Media Day and Season Ticket Holders Party
Media Day 2006 will be held at Kemper Arena on Wednesday, January 18th, from 2-4pm. You will also be sent an invitation at a later date with more details, but mark your calendars now. Following Media Day will be the Season Ticket Holders Party from 5-8pm, where fans pick up their tickets, meet the team, see the game field, and much more.
Anecdote of the Week
The Kansas City Brigade had three of their marquee players fly to KC for the jersey unveiling event and media opportunities last week. All three players happened to have come from the south (Andy Kelly - Tennessee; BJ Cohen - Atlanta; Chris Pointer - Louisville) and were surprised to find out that it was unseasonably cold and even snowed four inches while in town. All three made plans to re-pack before they arrive to Kansas City for good on December 27th.
Quote of the Week
"No, I can't say that I have had that conversation with Peyton (Manning) yet."
- Brigade QB Andy Kelly's answer to the question of whether he had talked to fellow Tennessee alum Peyton Manning and explained that Kelly threw for 96 touchdowns last year compared to Manning's 49 (almost half).
