
Bridgeport Drops Series to Somerset

Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Bridgeport, Conn. - September 12, 2010) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (43-21, 79-55) lost the home finale to the Somerset Patriots (36-27, 72-61) by a score of 4-2. The Bluefish lost there first series since August 16-18 against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
Brian Adams (4-3) earned the win as he lasted five-and-a-third shutout innings and gave up seven base runners. Luis Gonzalez (8-4) suffered the defeat as he worked six-and-a-third. The Patriots produced four runs, eleven hits, and five walks against the lefthander. Scott Williamson earned his eleventh save of the year as the righthander struck out two in an inning of relief.
Somerset got a leadoff homer, in the first, from Wayne Lydon. The Patriots tacked on three more in the third. The tallies included a two-run jolt, from Noah Hall, to left field.
The Bluefish broke the shutout in the eighth. Steve Moss doubled to extend his consecutive on-base streak to 39 straight. Moss moved to third on a long fly ball to right. The outfielder scored on a sacrifice fly. Joe Jiannetti doubled and Danny Putnam singled to plate the second run; however, that was all the Bluefish could get as Jerry Dunn and Williamson shut the door.

Game three of the playoffs is slated to take place, at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, on Friday, September 24. If necessary, there will be a game four on Saturday, September 25. All postseason matchups include a 7:05 first pitch with the gates opening at 6:05.
The Bluefish start a three-game series with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in Waldorf, Maryland on Monday. Fans are able to listen to the game live on www.bridgeportbluefish.com. The voice of the Bridgeport Bluefish, Perry Miles, will have the call of the action. Monday's pre-game show is set for 6:35 PM with a 7:05 first pitch.
