Bridgeport Drop Game Two to Somerset

(Somerset, NJ) - The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 7-1 on Saturday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.

Somerset got on the board in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by right fielder Luis Montanez, giving the Patriots a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport scored their lone run of the night in the top of the sixth inning as second baseman Juan Martinez hit a one-out double and scored on shortstop Mike Richard's RBI single. Somerset scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead after catcher Adam Donachie hit a three-run home run and was followed up by RBI singles by center fielder Jonny Tucker and first baseman Brian Barden. The Patriots would add an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning off third baseman Corey Smith's solo home run.

Bridgeport's starting pitcher Matt Iannazzo (2-3) picked up the loss, giving up six runs and four un-earned runs off twelve hits in five and two thirds innings pitched. Matt Langwell (4-6) earned the victory for Somerset, striking out six batters in six innings pitched and allowed one run off three hits.

Bridgeport will play the series finale of the three-game series against the Somerset Patriots on Sunday, July 6th, with first pitch at 5:05pm. The 'Fish return to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday, July 7th to begin a three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
