Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas --The back-to-back Presidents' Cup Champs welcome back Brian McMillin and sign former Colorado College product Andrew Hamburg for the 2014-2015 season.
McMillin has been a huge asset to the organization since arriving to Allen in 2010. He has played in 193 regular season games, netting 51 goals and adding 69 assists, totaling 120 points. His postseason statistics are quite impressive too. He was responsible for 15 goals and 16 assists in the 41 games he played, including being named MVP of the playoffs in the 2012-2013 season.
"Brian McMillin is a glue guy who understands our system," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He leads by example and he does everything you ask him to do. He makes us better team."
Last year for Allen, the 6'2'' right-handed forward scored 13 goals in 39 games during the regular season, and had 17 playoff appearances where he scored 2 goals and managed 6 assists for 8 points. He helped lead the team to two championships in four years with the organization and looks forward to being back on the ice again with his former team.
Another addition to the 2014-2015 roster is Forward Andrew Hamburg.
The 25 year old right-hander from Phoenix, AZ, stands tall at 6'3'' and weighing 203 lbs. He played briefly with the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League. His time with the Tornado was short lived, as he only played in 2 games (1 goals, 1 assist) before joining the St. Louis Bandits in 2007. He appeared in 93 regular season games, netting 23 goals and bringing in a whopping 80 assists for 103 total points during his two years with the Bandits. He averaged 1.11 points per game.
"Hamburg is big strong versatile kid with a lot of skill," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He comes highly recommended by his college coach."
During Hamburg's time in St. Louis, the team won back-to-back Robertson Cup Championships. Hamburg, earning a spot on the NAHL All-South Division Team in 2008-2009, was also recognized by the NAHL for having the Most Assists (48) that season.
He attended Division I, Colorado College, where he appeared in 131 games scoring 23 goals for 52 total points. He was also on the All-Academic Team for 3 seasons. Coincidentally, while Hamburg was beginning his freshman year in 2009-2010 for the Tigers, McMillan was going into his senior year.
During the 2012-2013 season, he appeared in only one game for the San Francisco Bulls. Last season he traveled overseas to Slovakia and Norway, where he joined the HC Banska Bystrica, Tonsberg Vikings, and Skien IHK. He played in 16 games with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points.
He returns to the state of Texas to join the Americans along with the many new faces on the 2014-2015 roster.
