
Brian Kaufman Signs Three-Year Extension

Ralston, NE - The Omaha Lancers, members of the United States Hockey League are proud to announce they have signed head coach and general manager Brian Kaufman to a three-year contract extension.
Kaufman, a native of Shoreview, Minnesota begins his third season as head coach and is the 11th bench boss in the 30-year history of the Lancers. Brian began with the Lancers as an assistant coach during the 2012-13 season.
"Brian is family to the Lancers and we're thrilled to sign him to a three-year deal," said Anthony "Koots" DiCesare, managing partner of the Omaha Lancers and Crossbar Down, LLC. "We couldn't be more pleased with the dedication of Brian and his staff in upholding the Lancers' winning tradition and developing our players for the next level."
After Kaufman was named head coach in 2013-2014, the Omaha Lancers have a regular season record of 73-31-16 and made playoff appearances in both seasons. Last season, Kaufman was chosen as the assistant coach for Team USA who captured a gold medal at the 2014 World Junior A Challenge (WJAC).

"We're very fortunate to have such amazing support from our staff, fans and community. We're excited to continue to build off of the Omaha Lancers' rich tradition in pursuit of our goals."
Before joining the Lancers, Kaufman spent the 2011-12 season as the graduate assistant coach with the Miami University RedHawks, the same team he also played four seasons with from 2005-2009. During his time at Miami, he amassed 30 goals, 54 assists for 84 points and the team's record was 106-34-14. During his junior and senior year, Brian served as Miami's captain during their run to the National Championship game in 2009.
After his collegiate career, Brian played two seasons of professional hockey with the Gwinnett Gladiators and Johnstown Chiefs in the East Coast Hockey League, and Bloomington PrairieThunder of the former Central Hockey League.
Prior to reaching the collegiate ranks, Brian played his junior hockey with the Billings Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). In three seasons there under former Lancers' head coach Mike Aikens, he recorded 66 goals, 68 assists and 134 points in 147 games and served as the team's captain during the 2004-05 season.
