Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Helena Brewers 14-4 at Centene Stadium. Yunior Novoa (0-3) took the loss as he worked only 1.1 innings, allowing 7 runs on five hits. The win went to Ryan Marion (1-0) for the Brewers as he worked six innings, allowing four runs on five hits. The Brewers scored first in the second inning when they sent 10 men to the plate and scored seven times. In the inning Brad Willcutt had a solo homerun and Ryan Braun chipped in with a single and three RBI. The Sox started to cut into the lead in the third as Mike Landry would hit a two-run homerun over the right field wall. However, the Brewers would get those runs right back on a two-run homer by Braun in the top of the fourth to put Helena up 9-2. Helena would add three more in the fifth. Brandon Johnson misplayed a ground ball which allowed two runs to score before Michael Bell scored on Angel Salome's RBI single to put the Brewers up 12-2. Helena scored once in the sixth before Great Falls got a two-run homerun to right from Francisco Hernandez to make the score 13-4. In the top of the seventh the Brewers would strike again, this time Braun would score on a single by Darren Ford to put Helena up 14-4. The Brewers increased the lead again in the top of the eighth as two runs would score on Michael Bell's double to center. The Brewers would go on to win 16-4. Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of this three game series against the Helena Brewers. The starters for the game are: Eric Everly (LHP) for Great Falls and Eric Thomas (RHP) for Helena. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
