Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rush announced today that forward Brendan Cook has signed with the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) based in the UK. Cook served as a player/assistant for the Rush last season.

"In what proved to be a very difficult decision, my family and I have decided to pursue an opportunity in Europe," said Cook. It is tough to leave after such a special season, but it's what's best for our family. Rapid City will always have a special place in our hearts. For my wife Missy, my son Jaxon and I, we truly felt at home in the Rapid City community. The organization treated us with an immense amount of care and support. It's a first class organization top to bottom. One of the things we will miss the most is the incredible fans. They are the most loyal and exciting fans I have ever seen, and I will never forget hoisting the cup in that sold arena. It was a season that I will remember forever and for that I am grateful. I extend a big "Thank you" to the entire Rush organization and all of the incredible Rush fans."

Cook finished second, behind only Scott Wray, with 29 goals while compiling 67 total points, good enough for third on the team. The Reston, Manitoba native led the Rush and finished third in the league with 260 shots. Cook's impact carried over into the post season where he again finished third in points and also collected Rapid City's first playoff hat trick in game #5 of the President's Cup Finals.

"We want to thank Brendan for his time here in Rapid City," said Head Coach Joe Ferras. "He is a tremendous person both on and off the ice, and is a role model for future players coming through Rapid. His success on the ice was just as instrumental as his impact within the community. These are types of guys that Rapid City prides itself in bringing in. "I hope Brendan Cook success in his pro career, and there is still the outside chance to get him back for a playoff run with the European leagues finishing before us."

This will be Cook's second stint in the EIHL. Prior to joining the Rush, he accumulating 34 goals and 41 assists for 75 points in 61 games with the Nottingham Panthers. He finished the season ranked 12th in league scoring.
