Brendan Brisson Named USHL Forward of the Week

January 22, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel forward Brendan Brisson was awarded Forward of the Week, the United States Hockey League announced Wednesday. The honor is the second of the season (Nov. 19) for the Manhattan Beach, Calif., native.

Brisson, committed to the University of Michigan, picked up two assists including one on the game-winning overtime tally in the 5-4 Steel victory on Friday against the Omaha Lancers. The 18-year-old then registered two goals and a helper the following night in a 6-1 win over the Lancers to help the Steel extend their current win streak to 13 games.

"Brendan has been a consistent contributor to our team success all year and we are happy to see him recognized by the league for his effort last weekend," said Head Coach Brock Sheahan. "Brendan continues to work at his game every day and that has led to his continued growth as a player."

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound skater has charted 35 points (17G, 18A), the most among USHL rookies and fifth overall for Chicago thus far during the 2019-20 campaign.

NHL Central Scouting's midterm list released on Jan. 15 had the forward listed as 31st on the North American skaters prospect evaluation.
