Breakers Host Saint Louis on Saturday in Home Opener!

April 10, 2009 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
Boston Breakers News Release

The Boston Breakers look to bounce back from a season-opening loss last week when they host Saint Louis Athletica in the Breakers' 2009 home opener, Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at Harvard Stadium.

Head coach Tony DiCicco and his squad were just inches away from a stoppage-time equalizer last weekend in a 2-1 loss at FC Gold Pride. Kelly Smith leveled the match in the 79th minute, and nearly drew Boston level again with a 22-yard strike that hit the cross bar in the final minute of stoppage time. Tiffeny Milbrett was the hero for FC Gold Pride with an opportunistic 90th minute winner in front of goal.

Like the Breakers, Saint Louis also will be looking to get on the win column after falling to the Chicago Red Stars last weekend at home. Athletica out-shot their opponents 16-7 for the match, and had 13 corner kicks, but it was Lindsay Tarpley's goal in the 78th minute that gave the visitors the win.
