BOYDS, Md. (April 10) - Professional women's soccer returns to the Washington D.C. area as the Washington Freedom host the Chicago Red Stars at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Saturday, April 11 at 6 p.m.

To celebrate the return of women's soccer to the area, the Freedom will host a number of pregame and halftime ceremonies and activities, beginning with a Fan Fest that opens at 4:30 p.m.

Home Opener Festivities:

Pre-game Fan Fest that includes inflatables, the band "Just 4 Kicks", a face painter and a balloon twister.

Ceremonial First Kick by '91 FIFA Women's World Cup and National Soccer Hall of Fame members Carin (Jennings) Gabarra, Shannon (Higgins) Cirovski and April Heinrichs.

John and Maureen Hendricks will present the 2003 Founders Cup before the game.

The team will hold an Easter Egg Hunt and T-shirt toss at halftime.

Also available for this match is a dedicated Taxi cab service, provided by Barwood, which will take fans to and from the Shady Grove Metro stop on the red line.

Upon exiting the Shady Grove Metro station, go through the farecard gate and turn right to our Barwood/Freedom dedicated cabstand on the East side of the station in order to get the Freedom Fan preferred rate of no more than $28 one way (if split four ways, no more than $7 per person).
