Long Beach Breakers News Release

Long Beach, CA. The ABA Long Beach Breakers Charity Dinner benefiting Miller's Children's Hospital and The Outflow Foundation last Thursday night at the fabulous Long Beach Petroleum Club was a huge success. Celebrities included original MTV diva 'Downtown' Julie Brown-Schuerman, ESPN's Shelley Smith, model/actress Darcy Donavan, who co-starred in the movie "Anchorman" with Will Ferrell, and popera singer Romina Arena, the only artist ever to open for Celine Deon in Las Vegas.

"The song that Romina sang were simply out of this word," said team owner Carl Williams. "My mom wants the French song that she sang." Other notables attending the even were Long Beach City Council members Val Lerch and Dee Andrews, Carson City Council Member Mike Gipson, Paul Langland and Seiichi Tsurumi of Sound Energy Solutions, 'Momma' Doris Topsy-Elvord (Port of Long Beach), Deputy City Manager Reggie Harrison, wine expert Jeremy Wilkinson, and Toyota executive Will James. Executives from Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes also attended as they donated the wine.

The event also featured the beautiful Long Beach Breakers Dance Team as they modeled the clothes of fashion designer Sumahrie Mansaray (Sumahrie Collections) and performed two hot dance routines. Added Williams, "I can't say enough about my dance team, they're incredible. Dance team director D'nez Westmoreland and dance team choreographer Kortney Yarborough have done an amazing job."

Mr. Williams also gave special thanks to Miller Children's Hospital, especial Dr. Mel Marks, for allowing our name attached to theirs for this wonderful event. The hospital is doing many special things for some very special children. Also, special thanks to Sonny Bozeman and The Outflow Foundation who support orphaned children with aids/hiv. "We're very proud to be a part of his foundation, and lastly the event would not have been nearly as successful without the support of The Press Telegram," stated Williams.
