
Unity Festival Organization and Long Beach Breakers Partner For Star Search Auditions

Pro Basketball is back in Long Beach and we would like to celebrate with you! The Long Beach Breakers American Basketball Association Team of Long Beach and The Long Beach Unity Festival have teamed up to present: The Unity Star Search for the Long Beach Unified School District High School Students.
The Unity Festival is headed by President Steve Adams who will also be the host of the event. The Unity Festival Organization comprises a partnership from everyone in the community especially church organizations, schools etc. to promote non-violence, peace and love within the City of Long Beach and other communities.
The Star Search competition began at the beginning of the school year 2007-2008 and directs its focus on students at the 7 Long Beach City high schools. The Unity Star Search Competition is looking for talented students from all 7 high schools to audition and compete in the Unity Festival Star Search Competition. Students may display their talent in the form of song, rap, dance, band, comic, poetry, spoken word, etc. but must include "Unity" in their presentation.
Auditions will be held at The Long Beach Breakers games, 2 hours prior to the basketball game at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Long Beach City College Men's Gymnasium 4901 E Carson St. Long Beach, Ca 90808. Participants may sign up for competition at www.lbunityfestival.com or at the gym sight at 3:00 P.M. Participants will perform in front of an audience of entertainment industry leaders and celebrity judges. For those who attend the auditions, Admission to the Breaker Game at 5:30 P.M. against the Los Angeles PUSH that same evening, is FREE!
This letter serves as a special invitation to the mayor, city council and other local and state dignitaries to come out and support all three events. Also we welcome your acknowledgements to The Long Beach Breakers and The Unity Festival Organization.
Simi-Finalist will be announced in February and will be performing on March 29, 2008 at the Long Beach Scottish Rite Cathedral's Auditorium. Finals will be held on May 31, 2008 at the Unity in the Community Festival at Rainbow Lagoon Park. In addition to the media exposure, performance tour and city recognition, the winner will receive a $500 cash prize and trophy.
