Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Acadiana, Louisiana - The Cane Cutters were out for blood after the Bomber's comeback win last night in Acadiana. The home squad scored all ten of their runs in the first four innings and coasted to a 6-10 victory over the Bombers.

The 1st inning scoring streak continues as both teams put one on the board in the 1st. Mike Adair drew first blood for the Bombers with an RBI single to score Davis Powell, who reached base on a walk. After the first two Acadiana batters reached base, a sac-fly from Kade Dupont easily scored the Cane Cutters the tying run from 3rd.

The two sides went blow for blow again in the 3rd inning, both scoring three and keeping the game tied at 4 apiece. Powell recorded his only hit of the night in the 3rd, a 2-run RBI double! Shelby Becker hit into a fielder's choice shortly thereafter to score Powell from 3rd for his 2nd run of the game.

After Bombers starter Hunter Mayo was pulled to start the 4th inning for Austin Teel, the wheels fell off for the Brazos Valley. With Teel on the mound, the Cane Cutters scored six runs off three hits, four walks, and three errors.

Although the four-run lead seemed like a task too tall to handle for the Bombers, the Brazos Valley continued to battle. Jacob Morin came in for Teel in the 5th inning, pitching three perfect innings, striking out four of the nine batters he faced. Trent Thompkins came in to end the game for the Bombers, only allowed one hit and struck out three.

The Brazos Valley squad also scored another two runs in the 6th to chip the Acadiana lead down to four. Becker scored the Bombers' 5th run of the game off a PJ Villarreal grounder. Ben Harmon recorded his 1st TCL hit of the season, an RBI single to score Jackson Cobb to make the score 6-10.

The Bombers couldn't get anything going in the last three innings, even with a great chance with a runner in scoring position in the 9th. The Bombers will have their chance at redemption on Monday and Tuesday as the Cane Cutters travel to the Brazos Valley for a two-game home series at Edible Field.
