Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX - The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited to announce their first wave of signings for the 2024 Texas Collegiate League season. The roster is jam-packed from top to bottom with talented collegiate players across varying levels of college baseball, which should result in a fun and competitive season on the field.

First off is Brayton Davis. Davis is one of two returners from last season's squad and brings lots of promise back to the Bombers. Last season in the TCL, Davis compiled a 1-0 record with a 1.03 ERA in 8.2 innings of work. The Brazos Valley right-hander comes from Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and has made contributions to the Trailblazers' pitching staff.

"This year while building the roster, we wanted to place an emphasis on local talent. We felt it was important to have a portion of this roster from the greater Brazos Valley area," Manager Brian Nelson said. "Brayton was an easy re-sign. He is local, has a proven track record of success in the TCL, and is hungry to bring the trophy home to the Brazos."

Joining Davis is fellow Trailblazer Alex Thrasher. Thrasher, another native Texan, hailing from Magnolia High School, provides a valuable arm for the Bombers out of the bullpen, by contributing valuable late innings for Arkansas State-Mountain Home during the 2024 campaign.

"Alex is another local player for our squad this year. He's coming off of Tommy John surgery and we are excited to see how his game has evolved" Nelson said.

Rounding out the first wave of signings is another Arkansas State-Mountain Home product Darren Crane. Crane, a right-handed sophomore, is expected to help provide some crucial work out of the Bomber bullpen which comes in new and improved. Crane only appeared in three games this past season for the Trailblazers but was flawless, not allowing a single run in all of his appearances.

"Darren is a hard-working and very competitive player that brings a spark to our pitching staff," Nelson said. "He usually throws high-80s to low-90s and will be an exciting prospect to watch develop this summer."

The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited to welcome this group of Trailblazers to this year's squad and look forward to making a run at another Texas Collegiate League Championship.
