
Braves win fourth in a row, beat Bristol 6-2

DANVILLE â The Danville Braves (38-24) extended their winning streak to four with a 6-2 victory over the Bristol White Sox (25-37) on the final Thirsty Thursday of the 2004 season at Legion Field.
After the White Sox scored a run in the first inning, Danville countered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Two of the runs scored on wild pitches by Bristol starter James Casey, who threw three wild pitches in the inning and four in the game. The other two runs scored on a double by catcher Clint Sammons.
Dan Smith, who pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Matt Harrison, picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the season. Casey was charged with the loss to drop to 1-4 in 2004.
The Braves play the White Sox again tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the final game of the three-game series. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free Adam LaRoche bobblehead courtesy of Coca-Cola.
