RICHMOND, VA- The Richmond Braves rallied from a three run deficit to beat Indianapolis 7-6 Wednesday afternoon at The Diamond. James Jurries hit a pair of home runs, including the club's first three-run homer of the year to lead the comeback.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Ryan Doumit sacrifice fly. The Braves scored two in the home half on solo home runs by Jurries and Scott Pratt. Indianapolis played long-ball to regain the lead on home runs by Cesar Crespo and Ray Sadler. A Graham Koonce RBI single made it 5-2 Indians in the fifth. Jurries smashed his three-run homer in the bottom half to tie the game. John Barnes singled two home in the sixth to put the Braves ahead to stay. The Indians rallied in the ninth; Doumit knocked in his second run. But Jason Childers quelled the threat to earn his first save as a Brave.
Chris Mears worked four innings of shutout relief to earn the win, his second of the year. Jurries and Brayan Pena had three hits for the Braves. Nate McLouth had three knocks for the Indians.
