Orlando Rays News Release

Greenville, SC.— Greenville pounded out 12 hits and limited Orlando to just six hits on the night as the Braves downed the Rays 7-0 at Greenville Municipal Stadium Thursday.

Greenville starter Ray Aguilar (W, 1-4) spun 7.0 innings of scoreless ball, holding Orlando to just five hits while striking out seven. The 23-year-old lefty was making his third spot start out of the bullpen, and his seven innings of work was his longest outing of the season, and the win was Aguilar's first at Class AA.

Orlando's offensive struggles continued Thursday, with the Rays blanked for the 13th time on the year. Over the final two games of the Greenville series Orlando was held to just one run on 12 hits.

Jonny Gomes went 2-4 with a double, while Joey Gathright went 2-3 in the loss. The Rays dropped to 19-26 on the second half and 51-63 overall, and dropped the series three games to one to the G-Braves.

Orlando heads to Zebulon, N.C. for the final series of this 12-game road trip, a four-game set with the Carolina Mudcats starting Friday at 7:15. Orlando will send LHP Jason Cromer (0-1, 2.67) to the mound against Carolina righty Nic Ungs (1-3, 5.67).
